Legislative Package Designing Amendments and Addenda to Constitutional Law RA Judicial Code Passed: Parliament Ends Extraordinary Sitting

At March 19 extraordinary sitting, the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Constitutional Law the RA Judicial Code authored by the deputies of My Step Faction Vladimir Vardanyan, Anna Karapetyan, Artur Davtyan, Vahagn Hovakimyan and Sergey Atomyan with the enclosed package was debated in the and for completely passing it in the National Assembly.

The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Vladimir Vardanyan presented the amendments made during the period from the first to the second reading.

It was noted that the amendments regarding the Administrative and Civil Procedure Codes were removed from the legislative package. “We tried to remove all disputable provisions from the draft law and reformulate them,” the key rapporteur said.

Touching upon the judges’ independence and social guarantees, it was noted that that provision was also revised: while becoming a member of the SJC the high payment would be preserved.

The terms of the individual applications and the procedure of the examination were specified by the legislative package.

In his co-speech the MP Sisak Gabrielyan presented the endorsement of the Head Committee, noting that the voiced concerns were dispelled.

As a result of voting, the legislative package was passed in the second reading.

Covering the agenda, the parliament ended the works of the extraordinary sitting.
